eLaHub Learning Portal - Accessibility Statement - eLaHub

If you have any issues with accessing our courses or need further support or assistance, please contact us at support@elahub.net.

At eLaHub we want all our courses to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

For example, this means that you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the module using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the module using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

AbilityNet (opens in a new tab) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible are our courses?

Wherever possible the content in our courses conforms to the WCAG Version 2.2 (opens in a new tab) Level A and AA standards. In addition, the content also conforms to any Level AAA standards that have a significant impact on improving the learner experience for learners with disabilities and access needs.

The main sections of our courses have been developed using Articulate Rise, as this is an authoring tool that provides a good level of accessibility and a detailed Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR). We include a detailed accessibility statement of any known issues with Rise at the start of each Rise module.

How accessible is this Learning Management System (LMS)?

When selecting an LMS to host our courses we were mindful to find an accessible solution and carried out an assessment of the accessibility of a wide number of options.

Unfortunately, our extensive analysis indicated that the level of commitment to accessibility in LMS products is not currently advanced enough to make any of the tools we researched fully accessible. TalentLMS state that they currently follow WCAG 2.0 guidelines, although there are instances where their software does not comply fully with these guidelines. Therefore, we have detailed below some accessibility issues that we are aware of. These issues have been reported to TalentLMS and they are currently trying to resolve them.

TalentLMS have committed to making their platform more accessible, with a goal to make TalentLMS+ WCAG 2.2 compliant by early Q1 2025.

Accessibility issues and support

  1. On the course home page there are buttons that do not have accessible names. Specifically, the course grid and list view buttons are identified by the screen reader but do not have any names to identify them.
  2. We have also identified that file names of some images added for the course and hosted in the LMS are read out by assistive technology and we are unable to provide alternative text or prevent them being read out by assistive technology.
  3. During course navigation, the ‘Complete and Continue’ link does not have any link text available to the screen reader and is just announced as ‘link’.
  4. When using keyboard navigation the item (link or button) that currently has focus should be visible to the user. Although the menu bar has a clear focus indicator when navigating, this is not provided when the user navigates to the course content, so that when focus is actually on the ‘Complete and Continue’ link the focus indicator is still showing incorrectly that focus is on the ‘MORE’ option in the menu bar.

Reporting accessibility issues

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of our learning content. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us on support@elahub.net.
